Caister played a very experienced Oulton Broad and Notleys side placed 4th in the table and took the lead after only 8 seconds through Newbury who finished off a well worked kick off move engineered minutes before in the dressing room and pulled off perfectly by the players. With this lead Caister pushed on and created numerous gilt-edge chances. Twice Barry Crane had the goal at his mercy and blasted over then Johnson did the same with only the keeper to beat. With a more difficult chance Crane hit the crossbar with a looping effort. All the possession however was not converted to goals and Caister were punished after thirty minutes when a free kick took a cruel deflection leaving Hollis stranded. Hollis then pulled off two outstanding saves as Oulton Broad got a grip on the game. However Caister conceded a second after 40 minutes with a good finish for Oulton Broad. In the second half further chances fell to Crane and a clear-cut chance for Childs but still Caister struggled to find the net. Crane thought he had scored on 65 minutes but the referee gave a handball against Johnson. Johnson himself then hit a sweet left foot drive which hit the bar, and possibly crossed the line but again Caister went unrewarded. In the final minutes after a mix up with a Caister corner kick Oulton Broad broke quickly and with players out of position made it 3-1 to seal their victory. Although their opponents were a good experienced side Caister showed little desire to win this game and regretted missing some good chances in the early stages. MOM Grant Johnson.
