Caister 5-4 Mattishall Reserves
This was certainly a game for the spectators as a rollercoaster game unfolded at Allendale Road. Caister started with a high tempo with Lines orchestrating proceedings from Midfield. Caister raced into a 2 goal lead through good strikes from Jarvis and Barry Crane as their pace unlocked Mattishall. Caister although two up had not even gotten into 2nd gear but looked as through they could canter to victory. However somewhat surprisingly Mattishall got themselves back in the game after a they capitilised on a goalkeeping error and then a striker got a fortunite bounce to be allowed to lob the advancing Hollis. From there as if not already in shock Caister went behind as Mattishall scored another lob and then capitalised on a ball which came back off the crossbar as Caister were slow to react to make the score 2-4 at half-time.
At half time Mason picked the positives from the 1st half and encouraged his players to keep up beat as they could still win the game. With this positive attitude, Ward Jarvis and Crane found themselves in good positions as Caister looked to get back in the game. The hard working Dave Crane won Caister a penalty on the hour mark which Jarvis converted for his 2nd of the game. Garrett Ward was playing with confidence and his probing run saw the ball break for him to smash a deserved equaliser for Caister with 25 minutes still to play. Chance after chance came for Caister's front men who were looking very sharp. It was the energetic Barry Crane who fired Caister to victory with an excellent run into the box, beating 3 players and blasting a low right footed shot to the keepers left which left him convincingly beaten. The result was good for Caister who despite a crazy 10 minute period in the 1st half when they lost concentration dominated this game and should have really won with a more convincing scoreline. However another 3 points after a better 2nd half. MOM Dave Crane who didn't lose one header in midfield.
