Report

Caister Reserves welcomed Sheringham Reserves to the Allendale.  Last season Sheringham were unfortunate to miss out on promotion but have struggled in the early part of this season due to the club losing several players in pre-season, however recently they have picked up and like many teams in this league they work hard and are a credit to their manager.

From the moment the players arrived everyone seemed totally up for the game and with the aid of Lucy every player was rubbed down and buzzing to start.

From the whistle there seemed to be a different attitude amongst the players, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and were playing some lovely football.  Sheringham scored the first goal against the run of play, however heads didn’t drop and through a lovely passage of play Caister quickly drew level when from a tight angle Jamie Mansfield smashed the ball into the back of the net, for his seventh goal in 11 games.

Caister continued to press and were looking dangerous every time we attacked, we took the lead when from a corner Yaxley found time in the box to place his shot between a crowd of people.  Sheringham never gave up and tried their best to push Caister for an equaliser, from a rare mistake at the back we allowed their striker to steal the ball and he made no mistakes drawing Sheringham level.

Half Time 2-2

It was important that players didn’t panic in the second half and just continued to play football, Caister took a deserved lead when Deano skinned a few players and rounded the goalkeeper for a sick individual goal which was well deserved and was his fourth goal in 4 games for the reserves.  From that moment Caister never really looked in trouble and continued playing football as a team, the fourth goal came from the ever present Gizzy who smashed in his eighth of the season from a free kick on the edge of the box, which keeps him top goal scorer…… not bad for a centre back!!!

Lewis Holsworth then completed the scoring and a Man of the Match performance with Caister’s fifth goal, which can only be described as “Scorchio”.

Full Time 5-2

Next match South Walsham away on Wednesday 1st May 2013, 6.45 Kick Off

Special thanks to Lucy for the rub downs, all the lads really appreciated it…. Some more than others I think!!!
