Report

Caister vets ended their season with an enjoyable friendly at home to touring team BAS F.C.  Caister fielded a much changed side but they still won comfortably 11 – 3.  Caister soon raced into a 3 goal lead.  Lyndon Haylett added the first with a shot from the edge of the box after the visitors had only partially cleared.  Paul Jacobs then headed home a corner before Haylett converted at the back post.  Neil Bowman saw a 40 yard lob come back off the post with the keeper helpless before his poor pass was intercepted and finished well to bring the visitors back into the game.  They were then awarded a penalty shortly afterwards after a handball by John Crowe and this was converted past Micky Harris to bring the score back to 3 – 2.  Caister soon re-exerted their grip on the game when Matthew McCreadie broke through and rounded the keeper.  Paul Jacobs made it 5 in the second half with a shot from distance that the keeper parried but was unable to keep out.  Bowman then got on the scoresheet when he beautifully dummied the defender before slotting past the keeper.  He then followed this up by heading home a corner from close range.  He then broke through on his own from his own half but saw his shot well saved with McCreadie tucking home the rebound.  The visitors then pulled another goal back after a good move.  A nice flowing move released Bowman but McCreadie whipped in to beat him to the ball and finish to complete his hat-trick.  Bowman then broke clear on the right and picked out Paul Jacobs with his cross who finished well to also complete his hat-trick.  Bowman was then crudely fouled just outside the area and Stephen Smith completed the scoring with a lovely free-kick.  M.O.M. Paul Jacobs.

Caister would like to thank everyone who helped out to ensure they fielded a side with debuts for Mark Steward, Ben Braidwood and Josh Clark.  They would also like to wish Roger Goffin a speedy recovery.
